Artist in Fine Arts

Through vibrant colour and luminous light, Maltese artist Cynthia Agius paints the beauty and unique spirit of Malta. Her paintings transform familiar landscapes into moments of memory and quiet reflection. Working primarily in oils with an impressionist sensibility, Cynthia’s work captures not only the essence of place/scenery, but the emotions it awakens, such as the atmosphere, stillness, and a sense of belonging.Alongside her landscape practice, Cynthia also creates bespoke Pet Portraits, each one painted with care and sensitivity. These personalised paintings are thoughtfully painted to honour the character, presence, and individuality of each pet, resulting in timeless keepsakes filled with warmth, energy and love.Cynthia’s paintings are held in private collections in Malta, Gozo, and England. She lives and works in Malta, where the islands’ beauty and her love of animals continue to inspire a body of work that invites viewers to pause, reflect, dream, and connect; creating pieces that bring life, personality, and emotion into any home or space.------------------------

A ONE OF A KIND PAINTING MADE JUST FOR YOUIf you’re thinking of commissioning a painting with me, here’s how it works!Every piece I create is an original artwork. Even when a commission is inspired by one of my previous paintings, it will never be an exact replica. Brushwork, colour nuances, and small variations are part of what keep each painting unique and true to its own character.Best results come when you bring your vision and keep an open mind, allowing space for my artistic interpretation to work its 'magic'! This balance ensures the final piece feels/is authentic, personal, and alive.BOOKINGS, are taken on a first come, first taken basis, with a 50% deposit upfront (non refundable). Due to high demand, I am only accepting commission requests with a deposit.TIMELINE, Paintings typically take around 5/6 weeks to be readily complete and dry... However, this timeline can vary depending on the weather and the number of commissions ahead of yours. Completion will be based on my current schedule and next available opening. The artwork is painted on a cotton canvas, or on a board, using oil paints. The materials used are quality archival materials, intended to last a long time.------------------------------------

Q&A
Q: Will my commission be an exact copy of a painting you’ve already made?
A: No. Each painting I create is a one-of-a-kind original. If your commission is inspired by a previous work, I will keep the idea, but the piece will naturally have variations. This may include changes in the composition, colour palette and details. This is what makes original art special.Q: How do payments and deposits work?
A: A deposit confirms your booking and allows me to secure materials and time for your piece. The remaining balance is due once the painting is complete and ready for delivery.Q: Do you accept refunds?
A: I do not offer refunds on commissioned artwork, as each piece is created specifically for you. However, if you experience any issues, please reach out to me. I’m always happy to help and find a solution.Q: Can you paint people or pets?
A: Yes. I can do both type of portraiture as well as landscapes. Pets and landscapes are where my style feels most natural and where I specialise the most.Q: What is your painting process?
A: I work with both acrylics and oils, depending on the approach best suited to each painting. Regardless of the medium, every piece is finished with a protective varnish once fully dry. Each painting typically takes 5 to 6 weeks to complete and dry, depending on the size, complexity, and other commissioned work in progress.
